‘Class of 2009’ is a sample from the 256 nails fostered for a year in a replenished vinegar solution. Despite the uniformity in conditions and initial form, each nail individuated, taking on exquisite properties. Photographed up close and presented as a series, they invoke a calendrical quality; they suggest trees, rocks, skin, hors d’oeuvres, personalities, etc.
